In order to predict how long and how much a project will cost, a series of calculations are performed which take into account how complex the system is, how much of a risk there are unknown elements and how much each part will be reused elsewhere in the system. These calculations result in a quote that shows a projected pessimistic and optimistic timescale/cost. If the range is to great or we feel that there is not enough information available to make a reasonable quote then we will ask to perform a scoping study.
Scoping studies are charged for but will be deducted from the total cost of your system because they cut down the analysis aspect. The total cost of the system will be somewhere between the two date timescales/cost ranges. If it were above (taking into account additional requirements) then we would complete it at our own expense. Your budget should be set at the pessimistic amount although we will be aiming for the optimistic amount. By prioritising, we can trim the system down until it suits your budget. We can then re-add items later in the project when we know how much time is left.
